A 56 year old woman suffering from schizophrenia who escaped from a psychiatric hospital in Ciudad Real last Saturday lunchtime, has been found dead in Miguelturra.

Her body was reported by the driver of a goods train, who spotted it lying face downwards by the side of the track shortly before 7.30am this morning.

Initial analysis of the corpse indicates that the woman has been dead for several days, and there is little evidence that she was hit by a train.

Staff at the Carmen Hospital from where the woman escaped, explained that she managed to slip away through a back door just as the midday meal was being served.
