David Cal won his second silver of the Games in the C-1 500m final while the synchronised swim girls stayed ahead of the hosts to take silver in the team finals behind the mighty Russians, who move up into third in the medals table.

Spain are going for gold in tomorrow's men's basketball final after beating Lithuania 91-86, but the 2006 world champions will be up against an all-conquering USA team that has already beaten them by a massive 37 point margin when they met in the qualifying round. The only previous time Spain reached in the Olympic final - in Los Angeles (1984) - they lost 96-65 against the USA.
