| A 38-year-old woman from Piņor (Ourense) is in a critical condition in the intensive care department of Ourense Hospital after drinking bottled water contaminated with some kind of corrosive liquid.
The incident occurred at a fiesta in San Cristovo de Cea last Friday after the woman bought a small bottle of Cabreiroá spring water.
A spokesman for the company, Antonio Viejo, insisted today that the product left the factory gates "in perfect condition," and that the bottle must have been tampered with somewhere further down the supply chain.
Mr Viejo explained that there have been no similar incidents with the rest of the batch, which, the company's quality control records show, was manufactured at the start of July, and which has almost completely sold out. |
