| At least five Taliban insurgents were killed last Friday in a firefight with a combined force of NATO troops and local police in western Afghanistan.
The incident occurred after insurgents attacked a Spanish convoy on a humanitarian mission around 25km from Qala i-Naw in Badghis province, prompting them to call in reinforcements, including, decisively as it turned out, air cover.
According to the Spanish Defence ministry, no NATO troops nor Afghan police were injured in the battle, which lasted for more than two hours. |
