| Barcelona starlet, Bojan Krkic has been called up from the U-21 squad ahead of Spain's opening 2010 World Cup qualifiers against Bosnia and Armenia as a replacement for Fernando Torres, who is facing a three-week layoff after picking up a muscle strain on Liverpool duty last weekend.
It is the third time the teenage striker has been called up to the full international squad, but has yet to win a cap.
Bojan, who turned 18 last week, was not included in Spain's Euro 2008 squad at his own request, citing fatigue.
Injured Torres could miss World Cup qualifiers By: thinkSPAIN Monday, September 1, 2008
Rafael Benítez speculated yesterday that Fernando Torres could be out of action for "between seven to ten days" after pulling up with a muscle strain during the first half of Liverpool's disappointing 0-0 draw at Villa Park yesterday.
If the results of today's scans confirm his manager's prediction, the striker will miss out on Spain's first two 2010 World Cup qualifiers against Bosnia and Herzegovina in Murcia next Saturday, and against Armenia in Albacete the following Wednesday. |
