A 33-year-old Guardia Civil officer died at his barracks in Nueva Carteya (Córdoba) at around 1.30pm today when his gun went off accidentally as he was cleaning it.

It seems that the victim had failed to unload his weapon completely, and was hit in the head after the bullet bounced off the ceiling.
