|  French police have captured ETA suspect Esteban Murillo Zubiri (56) in the French Basque town of Bidarrain on a European arrest warrant issued last year by the Spanish High Court.
His arrest follows the detentions of two other ETA suspects, Unai Fano and María Lizarraga, in central France nine days ago.
In 2000, Zubiri became the first ETA suspect extradited by the Dutch government (archive photo) following several years living under an assumed identity in Mexico and Chile.
At his subsequent trial two years later, he was acquitted of the murders of Pamplona policeman, Ángel Postigo - on June 15th, 1980 - and of the director of the 'Diario de Navarra' newspaper, José Javier Uranga, who was gunned down later the same year - on August 22nd - and set free. |
