| A woman whose identity has not been confirmed was killed yesterday evening when she was struck by a train while crossing a railway bridge on the outskirts of Cistierna (León).
The incident occurred at 6.12pm on a bridge spanning the Esla river around half a kilometre from Cistierna station when the victim was struck by a passenger train heading towards the provincial capital.
A spokesman from the FEVE company said that the driver had tried to warn, but was ultimately unable to avoid hitting, the woman, who fell into the river below.
An autopsy will confirm whether she died as a result of the impact, the fall, drowning, or a combination of these factors. |
