| The Spanish army is helping police scour a stretch of the north coast of Gran Canaria between Arucas and El Rincón in search for evidence against the alleged serial rapist, Miguel Ángel MR (47), who has so far been identified by eleven of his victims.
Yesterday, some of the soldiers were helping to excavate a fairly large hole from which at least one item was recovered.
Since the search began last Sunday, a number of objects, including various items of clothing and personal possessions believed to have belonged to the victims, have been found.
These have been handed to the judge investigating the case, who, in turn, has passed them over to the Las Palmas Institute of Legal Medicine for analysis.

A man arrested in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria last Saturday has been identified by seven victims and police are now investigating his possible involvement in a further 100 unsolved rapes committed across the archipelago over the past few years.
Canaries police chief, Concepción de Vega Camaño, confirmed at a press conference yesterday, that there is "biological proof" linking the suspect to at least one attack, and that the arrested man has a white van like the one described by more than one of the victims.
MMR (47) will be back in court again tomorrow following a preliminary hearing yesterday.
The second photo shows him arriving at court wearing a motorcylce helmet to conceal his identity. |
