| ETA detonated a 6-8kg bomb last night, causing serious damage to the Mt. Arnotegi TV transmitter station on the outskirts of Bilbao that they last attacked nine months ago, on February 23rd.
On that occasion, a warning call was made and the device, which had been booby-trapped, exploded when touched by a bomb disposal robot.
The transmitter station, apart from boosting publi TV and radio signals, also provides coverage for police, emergency and security forces' internal communication systems.
It was when this signal failed that officers were sent out to investigate, but it was decided to postpone a proper visual inspection until first light this morning, for safety reasons, after it was confirmed that the perimter fence had been breached.
