| Guardia Civil investigators are working on the hypothesis that a fire that cost the life of an 81-year-old homeless man in Nuevos Francos (Salamanca) yesterday evening, was probably started by the victim to keep warm.
The fire started at around 5.20pm, igniting a butane gas cannister and totally destroying the abandoned lorry cab that had been the victim's home for the past few months.
It seems that the man may have been suffering from Diogenes, or senile squalor, syndrome as his temporary home, which he shared with chickens and pigs, was stuffed full of garbage, and he was known locally as a bit of a recluse. |
