Organisers of the Canarias Live Sun Festival in Costa Adeje in southern Tenerife have confirmed that Rod Stewart will perform on May 16th.

Jordi Splugas, who is on the organising committee, explained that details such as the date that tickets will go on sale and how they can be obtained will be confirmed at a press conference sometime over the next few days.

Adding that the concert is "aimed not only at winter tourists, but the public as a whole," Mr Splugas went on to say that the aim of the Canarias Live Sun Festival is convert the island into "an international reference in the production of large concerts that serve to promote tourism and complement the island's cultural offer."

Elton John's concert last year at the Costa Adeje Golf Club , Mr Splugas continued, "had a massive impact in promoting Tenerife," and the committee is working to bring at least three other major international artists to the island next year.
