| Gracia Morcillo Torres, who was arrested by French police in Saintes in January 2006, was escorted back to Spain yesterday to face trial at the High Court in Madrid.
She is accused of providing logistical support to the 'Donosti' terror cell that carried out the murder of socialist party activist, Fernando Múgica, on February 6th 1996.
Specifically, she is accused of sheltering the killers, who were forced to change their escape plan after a shootout with police that left one of the terrorists injured.
Recruited by Valentín Lasarte the previous month, at that time Torres was working as a doctor at a medical practice in Andoain.
Police lost track of her whereabouts after she fled her home following Lasarte's capture in March 1996 until her eventual arrest in 2006 alongside Asier Quintana Zorrozua. |
