| The Guardia Civil has detained some twenty people in the provinces of Murcia, Malaga, Almeria, Lugo, Valencia and Alicante, and accused them of attempting to distribute false twenty and fifty euro notes manufactured by the Calabrese Mafia - the Ndrangueta.
It is believed that €150,000 euros in false notes have been confiscated, and that these were of an exceptionally high quality.
The head of the gang who was arrested in Torrevieja was a judicial interpreter and, in addition to charges of manufacturing and distributing counterfeit money, he is also being charged for revealing court secrets about other members of the gang. |
