| Francisco Casavella, who won last year's Nadal prize for 'Lo que sé de los vampiros' (What I know about vampires), died of a heart attack in Barcelona yesterday.
Casavella, whose real name was Francisco García Hortelano, was considered to be one of the most promising young Spanish writers and the author of 'El triunfo' (1990), 'Quédate' (Stay, 1993), and 'El día del Watusi' (Watusi Day, 2002-2003), which was published in three parts: 'Los fuegos feroces' (Ferocious fires), 'Vientos y joyas' (Winds and jewels) and 'El idioma imposible' (The impossible language).
'Lo que sé de los vampiros' is set in the 18th century against the backdrop of the expusion of the Jesuits from Spain. |
