| Murcia police are looking for two Moroccan men responsible for shooting a compatriot yesterday lunchtime in the village of El Siscar, near Santomera.
The incident occurred on the calle Oeste at around 12pm when two men travelling in a white Audi A-3 stopped and began arguing violently with the victim, who was on foot.
He ran off and climbed into the back of a grey Mercedes parked nearby, but was hit in the right kneecap by one of two shots fired by one of his attackers, who sped off afterwards towards Orihuela.
Local mayor, Luis Quiñonero, later confirmed that the 33-year-old victim, whose identity has not been made public, lives in the village.
He was taken to the Reina Sofía Hospital in Murcia where his condition is reported to be not serious.
According to a report in today's La Verdad, it is believed that the victim may have been responsible for robbing €2,000 euros from a female relative of one of his attackers on a bus two weeks ago that she had just withdrawn from a cashpoint machine. |
