| 60 year-old Félix Martínez Marín from Madroñera in Cáceres was stopped by police in his home town on Monday and charged with driving without a licence, without correct insurance and without a valid ITV certificate.
Martínez admitted driving for the past 46 years without ever having a licence, but maintained that he had never had any probem until now. He claims he has been driving all sorts of vehicles since the age of 14 in order to earn a living for himself and his family.
Although he swore that he had not used the car in the past year and a half, since he lost his last job, he confessed that had been using it to commute on a daily basis until then and said that in the case of an emergency he wouldn't hesitate to use it again.
Martínez went on to explain that he didn't have a licence because he could neither read nor write and that he has spent his life working in any case and wouldn't have had time to take the exam. |
