| The College of Pharmacists in Catalunya has found and 'immobilised' several doses of the vaccine against the human papilomavirus (HPV) belonging to the same batch as is currently under investigation by the Health Ministry, after two girls in Valencia suffered adverse effects immediately after being injected with it.
A spokesperson for the Pharmacists' organisation gave a statement today saying that several doses of the vaccine, manufactured by Gardasil and with the suspect bacth number NH52670 had been distributed to a number of pharmacies in the catalan capital, although the exact quantity was still unknown as was the exact location of the doses, since some could already have been despatched to the end users.
The same source went on to confirm that the vaccines has been 'immobilised' at this time, preventing their sale for the time being, but not withdrawn completely until it is confirmed that there is a problem with the batch rather than an allergic reaction that the two girls suffered.
Last week, the two 14-year-olds suffered immediate adverse effects after receiving the vaccine against HPV that causes cervical cancer and remain in hospital in Valencia in a serious, but stable condition. |
