|  AN explosive device was found under a councillor’s car last night in Zumárraga (Guipúzcoa).
The Basque police, the Ertzaintza, sent out their Explosives Deactivation Unit after receiving a call to say that a ‘suspicious-looking object’ had been seen wedged behind the wheel of a socialist councillor’s vehicle.
Police cordoned off the area and evacuated a number of homes to be on the safe side.
But at around 20.45hrs, the explosives experts found the device was fake.
It comprised various wires and batteries and contained a powder which, although not yet tested, is said not to be explosive, confirms the ministry of the interior. |
