| A three year old child drowned this morning in a school swimming pool.
According to the emergency services, a call was made at about 10.40 this morning from the Liceo la Paz school in A Coruña, requesting assistance with an apparently unconcscious child.
An ambulance was sent to the school, in the Matogrande district of the town, and paramedics tried without success to resuscitate the child.
Having been informed of the incident, a judge was sent to the school where he oversaw the transfer of the corpse to the University Hospital where the autopsy will be carried out.
The school's board of directors have refused to give any further details out about the drowning, saying only that it was a 'tragic and sad' incident.
They also expressed their condolences to the parents of the child.
Amongst the various representatives of local and regional government who have visited the school in question this afternoon, a schools' inspector was also present to gather information and draw up a report on the incident for the local authorities. |
