| The Guardia civil are investigating the shooting of a 17-year-old girl in her own bedroom in Alfaz de Pí, Alicante, yesterday morning.
According to information provided by the town's mayor, Vicente Arqués, the girl received two bullets from a shotgun at some time between 9am and 12pm while at home at number 10 Cami de Coves.
Her mother left for work at 9am and her body was found in her bedroom at midday.
The alarm was initially raised by the cleaner, who got no answer when she went to the house and consequently called the girl's mother to let her in.
The mother returned home to find that her daughter had been shot.
The girl's 22 year-old brother drove her to hospital in Villajoyosa, but the doctors couldn't do anything to save her life and she was certified dead at 1pm.
It appears that the father's own shotgun, which was kept at the property, was used in the attack.
The Guardia Civil remained at the property until late in the evening collecting evidence and have opened an investigation into her death, starting with statements from members of her family and close friends.
The police have not yet discovered any possible motive for the crime.
The mayor has expressed his and the town's 'consternation' at the incident that involves a 'well-known and hardworking family' who have lived in the town 'all their lives'. |
