A woman found her parents shot dead in their back yard in Amendo, near Taboadela (Ourense) today.

She arrived with her husband and daughter to have lunch with the couple, aged 65 and 63 respectively, as she did every Sunday, only to find her father dead with a bullet wound in his neck and her mother with two bullet wounds in her head.

Sources within the Guardia Civil have confirmed that the house had not been ransacked, suggesting that robbery was not the motive, but no weapon was found at the scene either, ruling suicide out as an explanation.

After the morbid discovery, the house and garden were cordoned off by police so that evidence could be collected and the bodies were removed to a hospital in Ourense where autopsies will be performed to establish the approximate time of death.

The daughter had seen her parents on Friday, but since then none of the neighbours interviewed by police had seen them out and about in town.

The dead man had retired just over a year ago from his job as a draughtsman with a construction company and his wife was a seamstress, who had also recently retired after breaking her hip.
