| A RODIN exhibition is one of many exciting displays to be found in the Regional Modern Art Museum (MURAM) in Cartagena, which opens its doors for the first time today.
Among the French sculptor’s 50 works being exhibited are his well-known statues, The Thinker and The Kiss.
The works of several of Auguste Rodin’s contemporaries, including Émile-Antoine Bourdelle, Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux and his disciple and lover Camille Claudel, are also on display.
Given the massive size of the sculptures, which form part of the collection belonging to the Carlos Slim Foundation in Mexico and are not on display at the Rodin museum in Paris, some will be exhibited in the Roman Theatre Museum in Cartagena.
The main museum, whose long-awaited opening takes place today, is located in the Aguirre Palace.
Future exhibitions will include the Murcia-born sculptor González Moreno, and another titled Poets of the 20th century, encompassing works by Picasso, Sorolla, Gargallo, Juan Gris, Antoni Tàpies, Barceló, Julio González, and Miralles.
