| A SPANISH tourist has been admitted to a Peruvian hospital amid suspicions that she may be suffering from AH1N1, or swine ‘flu.
The 29-year-old girl landed in Lima’s Jorge Chávez international airport at noon local time on Friday following an Air Comet flight from Madrid.
Upon disembarking, she was found to be suffering from fever, a cough and a sore throat.
She was taken to the Daniel Alcides Carrión hospital for isolation and treatment.
Tests performed on Friday afternoon were thought to be inconclusive and the results of further examinations are expected to be revealed later today.
The girl had intended to travel on to Cuzco and visit Machu Picchu and the Sacred Valley.
Perú’s health minister Óscar Ugarte says the country’s first confirmed case of swine ‘flu was registered last week in a 27-year-old girl, a Peruvian national who had travelled home on a LAN flight from New York.
