| PARENTS of murdered teen Marta del Castillo Casanueva have called for the judge handling the case to investigate the assets of her killer’s stepbrother.
They believe he sold a property whilst in custody pending trial for aiding and abetting, to avoid having to pay compensation to the victim’s family.
Marta, 17, was killed by former boyfriend Miguel, 20, during an argument at his flat in Sevilla.
After knocking her out with an ashtray, he feared her dead and claimed to have dumped her body in the Guadalquivir river with the help of two friends and his stepbrother, Francisco Javier D.M.
But Miguel later changed his story and claimed Marta’s body had been left on a rubbish tip.
To date, she has not been found.
Francisco Javier D.M.’s wife is said to have completed the sale of a flat that they owned jointly a month after he had been remanded in custody.
He is said to have signed documents in front of a notary separating his and his wife’s income, thus permitting her to sell the property.
An investigation into the mortgage and possible defaults or embargoes on the flat he jointly owned with stepbrother Miguel, Marta’s murderer, will also be carried out.
The lawyer representing Marta’s family has filed against Francisco Javier’s being released pending trial, since he considers that whilst free the killer’s stepbrother would “continue to impede the search for the body.”
The solicitor says finding Marta’s body will allow the family “their elementary right to bury their daughter and their daugher’s right to a proper funeral.”
