| A GROUP of 60 scientists are working together in Spain on a major cancer research project.
The ministry of science and innovation, together with the BBVA bank’s charitable arm and the National Oncology Investigations Centre (CNIO) are supporting the research into discovering more about the growth of tumours and the role of stem cells.
They will then work on developing new treatments to be put to the test in clinical trials.
Experts from all over the world are working in six groups of ten in the Madrid-based laboratories.
A total of 2.5 million euros has been handed over by the BBVA’s charity foundation, which will fund five years’ worth of research.
