| The government's second vice-president, Elena Salgado, was very cautious today when evaluating the glocal economic situation, saying 'to suggest that the worst is over would be to exaggerate what we are going through'.
According to Salgado, who was speaking at a meeting of Euro-Zone Finance ministers, in the second half of the year 'we are not going to see the same poor results as in the first half, but we are going to carry on having considerable problems with the economic situation'. Joaquín Almunia, the representative for Economic and Monetary Affairs at the European Commission was somewhat more optimistic when asked if the worst of the crisis was over, answering, 'I trust that it is.'
Salgado emphasised that economic recovery 'would not happen overnight' adding that 'we are going to start seeing that the problems are not as great as we thought' but insisted that the situation would remain grave for the rest of the year. |
