| TWELVE people suffered injuries on Tuesday night leaping over bonfires during the summer solstice celebrations.
On the night of June 23, tradition dictates that people write a list of their wishes for the forthcoming year, throw it on a bonfire at the stroke of midnight and leap over the flames.
But in Madrid, eleven people suffered minor burns during the festival in the Gran Vía de San Francisco, near the Basilica of the same name.
They were treated on site by SAMUR ambulances.
A 23-year-old man was taken to the burns unit of La Paz hospital in a mobile intensive care unit with second-degree burns to his back, legs, hands and feet.
Medical staff are reluctant to comment on his chances of recovery.
