| Unemployment figures fell in June for the second consecutive month, with 55,250 fewer unemployed than in May (a 1.53% drop).
According to the Ministry of Employment and Immigration, there are currently 3,564,889 unemployed in Spain.
Despite the recent drops, unemployment has risen 49.13% over the past 12 months, which equates to 1,174,465 more unemployed people now than in June 2008.
According to the Secretary General for Employment, Maravillas Rojo, the fall in unemployment figures in June is 'very good news' because it's the biggest drop for the month of June since 2001.
Furthermore, it is the first time that unemployment levels have dropped in two consecutive months since the first half of 2007, before the economy had started to show any signs of the recession. |
