| A PREGNANT woman has become Spain’s eleventh fatal victim of swine ‘flu.
The 31-year-old died yesterday in hospital in Castellón due to complications with the AH1N1 virus.
Medics have not confirmed whether her pregnancy was sufficiently advanced for the baby to be born by Caesarian section, as was the case with the first pregnant swine ‘flu victim, Dalila.
She had been admitted to Castellón General Hospital, before being transferred to the Rey Don Jaime hospital in the same city, reports the ministry of health.
Her family have asked doctors not to provide any further information to the press.
This latest tragedy is the fourth death in the Comunidad Valenciana from the condition.
A 45-year-old Algerian national from Teulada (Alicante) died in the ambulance on the way to hospital, followed by a 53-year-old man from Alzira (Valencia).
Last week, a 28-year-old girl who was pregnant lost her battle for life in intensive care in Valencia’s Nou d’Octubre hospital.
