| SWINE ‘flu claimed two more victims in Spain yesterday.
The first was a 39-year-old pregnant woman from Sevilla, a Moroccan national.
She is said to have been suffering from hepatitis and was also clinically obese, two factors that exacerbated her condition.
The baby was delivered by Caesarean section and should be discharged shortly from Sevilla’s Valme hospital.
Medics say the deceased has two other young children who are suffering from the AH1N1 virus, but both are recovering well at home.
In Algeciras (Cádiz) a 50-year-old woman has also died from complications related to the disease.
She is said to have a history of other medical problems, but these have not been revealed.
The woman was taken to La Línea hospital on August 3 with a severe fever but was transferred two days later, at her family’s request, to the Punta de Europa hospital in Algeciras.
She had been in intensive care since August 10.
The swine ‘flu death toll in Spain is now up to 14, although as yet these are the only two fatalities recorded in Andalucía.
