| CHART-TOPPING pop-rock act Fito y los Fitipaldis have announced they will kick off their tour of Spain in Santander on November 6.
The group, headed up by Bilbao-born Fito Cabrales, is promoting its fifth album, Antes de que cuente diez (‘before I count to ten’).
Their previous album, and its title track Por la boca vive el pez, stormed to the top of the charts in 2007.
Often compared to Status Quo, their unique brand of soft-rock/heavy pop includes influences from similar styles from the 1980s, and thought-provoking lyrics.
Launched on September 15, the new album includes the participation of drummer Pete Thomas (who has previously worked with Elvis Costello, John Paul Jones, Suzanne Vega and Los Lobos); bassist Alejandro ‘Boli’ Climent (M-Clan); drummer Daniel Griffin (Tequila, and Ariel Rot) and bassist Andy Hess (Gov’t Mule, The Black Crowes, Tina Turna and David Byrne).
They join the usual suspects, Carlos Raya, Javi Alzola and Joserra Senperena, who make up the part of the band known as Los Fitipaldis.
After Santander, they will head to Castellón and Alicante on November 13 and 14 respectively, before returning north to A Coruña (Galicia) on November 20 and performing in Vigo (Galicia) the following day.
Fito Cabrales and his band’s tour will then take them to Santa Cruz de Tenerife on December 4, and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria the following day.
The group heads back to the mainland and the opposite end of Spain for December 12 to take to the stage in Barcelona’s Palau Sant Jordi, before performing in Burgos on December 18, Bilbao the following day and finally the Palacio de Deportes in Madrid on December 28.
