| A FOREST fire that broke out in Villalonga (Valencia) on Tuesday night has finally been brought under control after wiping out 61 hectares of scrubland.
As the blaze started on a steep mountain slope and temperatures were in the high 30s yesterday, the fire brigade had its work cut out extinguishing the flames.
Seven fire engines, seven brigades and three lorries together with various helicopters and hydroplanes were involved.
Around 20 people living in the Tancaes Altes area near the El Bouet ravine were evacuated from their homes and put up in rural guest houses nearby.
The cause of the fire is not yet known and is under investigation.
