| SPAIN’S latest fatal swine ‘flu victim is a 77-year-old woman from Málaga who lost her life in the regional Carlos Haya hospital (pictured) yesterday, reports the ministry of health.
The patient suffered a series of pathological health conditions, which exacerbated her condition, but the exact cause of her death has not been revealed.
She is said to have suffered from chronic heart and respiratory failure, diabetes and high blood pressure, plus Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD – otherwise known as being ‘broken winded’).
These pre-existing conditions instantly placed her in the World Health Organisation’s high-risk list, medics reveal.
So far, 23 people have died of swine ‘flu in Spain, nearly all of whom had pre-existing medical conditions and in some cases were heavily pregnant.
