| A RESTAURANT table measuring a whopping 1.2 kilometres in length has entered the Guinness Book of Records.
In fact, it was made up of tables from at least 60 different restaurants in El Campello (Alicante) assembled in a line nearly a mile long.
Despite its length, every single seat was occupied during the slap-up meal thrown on by the restaurants taking part in the zany event on Saturday night.
Each eatery that had contributed tables was allowed to decorate these however they wished, use their own staff to wait on the diners and serve up the dishes offered on their own menus.
A notary attended the event once everyone was seated and tucking in, in order to confirm that the table’s length – 1,258 metres – had in fact smashed a world record held for two years by a restaurant in Vienna (Austria).
Back in 2007, a public meal was held with tables fitted together in a line measuring 1,176 metres.
