| Two men and a woman were assassinated this morning in Santoņa (Cantabria) just a few metres away from the El Dueso prison. They were in a parked van when they were shot by a man who was then driven off in a fast car by an accomplice.
Both of the men who were shot dead have criminal records, leading the Guardia Civil to believe that the shooting could have been a contract killing.
The van, a white Renault Traffic with tinted windows, was parked on the pavement just 150 metres away from the prison walls.
At 9.40am, another car with two men inside pulled up alongside it. One of the men got out and shot the three people in the van, while the accomplice waited in the car. The shooter then jumped back in the car and fled with the other man.
The three victims all lived in Santander. The woman, who has no criminal record, was 45 years old. The two men, were 55 and 43 years old respectively and both had criminal records.
The triple murder took place on the avenida de Berria, in the Barrio de Piedrahita in Santoņa, the main road leading to the El Dueso prison. The road was closed all morning while the bodies were removed and taken to hospital and the van was taken away by the Guardia Civil for further investigation.
No-one living in the vicinity of the incident nor staff at the prison heard any shots fired, suggesting that a silencer was used on the gun. The incident took place just outside the range of the prison's security cameras, so there are no images of the assassinations available to police. |
