| The driver of the bus full of Dutch students and teachers that crashed yesterday causing the death of a 16 year-old girl has been charged with manslaughter but then released on bail.
The accident occurred at 6.20am at exit 5 on the AP-7 motorway in Báscara (Girona) and left 15 students and five teachers injured, two of them seriously, as well as killing one of the students.
The driver's version of the incident did not coincide with versions given by the passengers to the police, leading them to suspect that he had either been distracted or had fallen asleep and was covering up. Tests carried out yesterday for drugs or alcohol came back negative.
The Catalunya High Court confirmed today that the driver, also of Dutch nationality, has to appear in court on the 1st and 15th of every month until sentence is passed. |
