| A MASSIVE turnout was seen for Friday’s funeral of the seven victims of the building collapse in the Es Fortí district of Palma de Mallorca.
An entire apartment block was reduced to rubble in minutes, for causes which are as yet unknown.
A German couple, a Mallorca-born man and his daughter, and three Colombians – a mother, son and son-in-law – were killed.
The funeral was attended by their family members, friends, and major authority figures including minister for tourism Miquel Nadal, minister of health Vicenç Thomàs, Senator Pere Samplol, former mayoress of Palma Catalina Cirer, and Commander-in-Chief of the Balearics, Juan Carlos Domingo Guerra.
Other major government officials, including the president of the regional government of the Balearics, Francesc Antich, were in attendance.
At the funeral, the bishop of Mallorca also paid homage to a married couple who had died the same day in a fire in El Molinar (Palma).
