| The Spanish National Ballet will be performing at the opera House in Tel Aviv tonight, the first time in ten years that they have stepped on a stage in Israel.
The ballet company will be performing two shows, 'Aires de Villa y Corte' and 'La Leyenda' from now until Saturday November 7th as part of the Tel Aviv International Dance Festival, which also includes performances from countries like Japan, China, the USA and France.
José Antonio, director of the ballet company, described the two shows as "an example of our broad dance culture and, above
all, a chance to show the talent we currently have at the Spanish National Ballet".
'Aires de Villa y Corte' is dedicated to the 18th century Bolero School of classical Spanish dance and features five separate acts set to music by award-winning composer, José Nieto and with costumes by Oscar winner, Yvonne Blake.
'La Leyenda', in contrast, is a personal homage by José Antonio to Carmen Amaya, "the great legend of flamenco dancing" and features music by Córdoba's Jose Antonio Rodríguez.
According to the show's director, both shows are "very theatrical and emotive and are being very well received all over the world". |
