Barcelona have yet to lose in the league this season and bounced back from their midweek UEFA Champions League disappointment in Russia to see off Real Mallorca 4-2 at Camp Nou.

Real Madrid are just a point behind Barça after they won a thrilling derby against city rivals Atletico Madrid 3-2, leaving Quique Sanchez Flores' side languishing inside the relegation zone as a result.

Deportivo La Coruña have now won five of their last seven Primera Liga fixtures after overcoming Getafe 2-0 with nine men.

Málaga continue to prop up the table after they were held 2-2 at Tenerife.

Sevilla closed on top spot with a win over Villarreal a determined Villarreal side 3-2 at the Sanchez Pizjuan.

Valencia consolidated their fourth place in the Liga table after a convincing 3-1 win over Real Zaragoza at the Mestalla Stadium.  Juan Manuel Mata, David Villa and Pablo Hernandez all found the scoresheet in an impressive display by the home side which extended their unbeaten run to nine games in all competitions.

Strugglers Racing Santander crashed to their third successive defeat (0-2) against Athletic Bilbao at El Sardinero.

Xerez continue to linger at the wrong end of the table having been held to a goalless draw against Valladolid.  Xerez have not won a single game on the road this term and are without a win in their last four games.

Sporting Gijón continue to reign supreme at home having notched a narrow 1-0 win over Espanyol.

Almería, meanwhile, ended a disappointing losing run with a 2-0 win over in-form Osasuna.
