| Iberia cabin crew have called off their strikes planned for November 30th and December 1st, 2nd, 14th, 15th, 16th, 17th and 18th after reaching a verbal agreement with Iberia's management.
The trade unions involved, CTA and SITCPLA, issued a press release this morning, confirming that an agreement was reached with management during a meeting last night and would be drawn up and signed today.
In the agreement, a 4% pay rise "will be considered" bringing cabin crew in line with other Iberia employees, which the members of CTA and SITCPLA described as a "positive" step towards eliminating salary discrimination within the company.
The trade union representatives confirmed that having solved this one problem, they were prepared to "dedicate all their time and effort to making the Plan 2010-2012 work for Iberia and its employees."
The initial disagreement arose after cabin crew members claimed that their salaries have been frozen for five years, a claim that was dismissed by management, leading to a number of strikes at the end of October and beginning of November, resulting in the cancellation of 800 flights and affecting 40,000 people in all. |
