CALENDAR girls from Cantabria schools have raised enough funds to send four indigenous Peruvian children to university. 

A group of female teachers from the northern region have posed naked – but with their modesty carefully covered up by their hands and other props – for a 2010 calendar as part of their charitable efforts.

To date, the same group has organised craft fairs, fêtes and jumble sales to help provide children living in remote parts of the Andes and the Amazon in Peru with the opportunity to further their education beyond high school.

Four teenagers are now studying degrees at Cuzco University as a result.

Although at least one complaint was raised about whether the calendar was appropriate, given that the subjects are school teachers, the models stress that the pictures reveal 'no more than you would see on the beach'.
