|  FIREFIGHTERS’ unions held a silent demonstration this morning outside the government buildings in Pontevedra to express their condolences publicly to the families of their deceased members.
Julio Martínez, 35 and Rodrigo Amo, 27, both died when fighting a forest fire on Friday near the village of Fornelos de Montes (Pontevedra).
They were killed directly by the fire, rather than the smoke, after being surrounded and trapped by the flames.
Both men had only been on site for around 20 minutes by the time they were killed.
The fire is thought to be the work of arsonists.
