| Barcelona booked their place in the UEFA Champions League final with tonight's 3-1 aggregate win over arch rivals Real Madrid.
With a 2-0 lead from the bad-tempered first leg last week, Barça moved further ahead shortly after half-time when Pedro connected with Iniesta's excellent pass to put the hosts 1-0 ahead on the night.
Real fought back, however, and Xabi Alonso found Angel Di Maria who smashed a shot against the post before setting up Marcelo to slot home.
But Barça held out comfortably to secure their place at Wembley on 28th May, where they will most likely meet Manchester United, who hold a 2-0 lead from their away leg against Raúl's Schalke 04.
Real coach Jose Mourinho, was absent from tonight's clash at Camp Nou, having had a touchline and dressing room ban imposed on him during the first leg. He opted to watch the match from his hotel room.
In an emotional moment for the Barça fans and players, Eric Abidal came on in the closing minutes of the game just weeks after undergoing surgery to remove a liver tumour. |
