| Four people died this afternoon after two light aircraft hit one another close to Asturias Airport, one crashing onto the airport site itself and the other crashing into the site of a nearby mountain.
There were two people in each aircraft, part of a group of friends in three aircraft that had left San Sebastián at 12:30pm, heading to the Portguese resort of Vilar da Luz. They had not planned a stop in Asturias. The third plane landed safely at Santander Airport.
One of the planes crashed down into the airport's aircraft parking area, right by the fire station, and the other landed on mount Bayas in nearby Castrillón.
Airport authorities have confirmed that it was foggy and raining heavily at the time of the accident.
