| KING Juan Carlos has announced he will donate his 125,000-euro prize for his 'exceptional humanitarian work' to the funds for rebuilding Lorca, which was devastated by an earthquake a month ago yesterday.
The monarch is due to receive the Russian State Prize at the Kremlin today, although he is unable to attend in person due to his recent knee-replacement operation.
He has won the award – the largest-ever to be given by Russia to a foreign leader – for the extensive charity work he carried out over the course of 2010.
The King says he will hand over all funds he is given to the victims of the Lorca quake, which measured 5.2 on the Richter scale, leaving nine dead, hundreds injured and thousands homeless as their houses were reduced to rubble.
