| A MAN given up for dead in 1993 has turned up in the city of Ávila, National Police reveal.
Adriano Zamorano Patilla disappeared in Córdoba in 1983, when he was aged 37 and was added to the deaths register 10 years later when it looked extremely unlikely he would ever be found alive.
But Adriano, 65, from Granja de Torrehermosa (Badajoz) was found in a psychiatric hospital in Ávila last night, having been admitted some weeks ago.
His mental faculties were said to be ‘severely reduced’, to the point where he was unable to give coherent information leading to his identification.
At one point, Adriano claimed his name was ‘mystery’.
Police had to take his fingerprints and DNA samples – the latter of which led to their being able to contact three of his siblings – to find out who he was.
