| The Almería taxi drivers’ association have expressed their support for a 24-hour strike and demonstration in protest over the death of colleague Joaquín García, found dead last Saturday in Agualduce, and his car was found about 20 kilometres away, in La Mojonera (Almería). According to Jose Hernández, president of the taxi drivers’ collective, after gathering in the Auditorio Maestro Padilla area, demonstrators will march to San Juan church, where a mass will take place at 11.00 hours. From there, they will march to the city’s cemetery, and later, about 13.00 or 13.30 hours, will have a meeting with the city’s government sub-delegate, Francisco Laínez, to debate possible protection measures.
The taxi services in Almería will run again as usual from 08.00 hours tomorrow.
The body of deceased Joaquín García Carretero, aged 53, was found on Saturday in the Agualduce area in Almería with “many signs of blows”, an incident over which one person is currently arrested. The victim’s vehicle was found on Tierras Blancas road in La Mojonera (Almería), allegedly parked and with the doors closed. |
