Sea rescue services in Aturias have today recovered the body of a ten-year-old boy, missing since December 29th, from the sea in the port of El Musel (Gijón).
The boy had been missing since the boat he and several members of his family were in capsized at the end of last month. An adult also lost their life in the incident.
The boy's body was spotted near the breakwater on the Osa quay in the port of El Musel by members of the emergency services, who were flying over the area as part of the continuing rescue operation.
A police boat was quickly launched and pulled the corpse out of the sea. Sources close to the investigation have said that a formal identification of the body has not yet been carried out, but that the child's family had been informed of the discovery.
The mayoress of Gijón, Carmen Moriyón, went to the port this moring and was visibly upset by the find and declined to make a statement to the media.
