| Real Madrid threw away victory right at the end of their UEFA Champions League last-16 tie in the Russian capital tonight, as CSKA Moscow snatched a last-minute equaliser to keep their competition hopes alive.
Despite the freezing conditions and artificial pitch, Cristiano Ronaldo managed to put Real ahead just before the half-hour makr, grabbing a crucial away goal.
Real were firmly in control of the match from that point on, but CSKA goalkeeper Sergei Chepchugov foiled all their efforts to add to their lead.
Real were then made to pay for their missed chances when Pontus Wenbloom volleyed home with virtually the last kick of the game to level the scores.
The goal sparked wild celebrations and brought an end to Real's perfect record in Europe this season.
The second leg will be played at Madrid's Santiago Bernabeu on 14th March. |
